A Colorful, Fall Wedding in Houghton MI
Happy Tuesday Friends! I have a new Burgundy and Navy themed wedding filled with tons of fall color for you today! I had trouble narrowing down what images to share because everything went together so well and I loved the results!
Neither the bride or the groom are local but fell in love with our quiet little area when Adrienne was going to graduate school at Michigan Tech. “When you got your save the dates you probably went straight to google to find out where Houghton was, but don’t tell anyone because that is why it’s so great!” Adrienne’s father’s toast was absolutely perfect and so true! All of their wedding guests traveled for their big day and what an amazing testament to them as a couple when their reception was bursting at the seams with loved ones!
At the reception, I soon found out the name of another special place! “Kema” Camp Kema is where Jameson and Adrienne met and where their love story got started! They had a “Kema” sign as part of their decor and instead of numbers, all the tables were names of cabins at camp!
The original plan was to have an outdoor wedding on the lawn of the Brownstone Hall in Atlantic Mine with the reception indoors. The predicted rain forced our plans indoors and a change of location for portraits as well. With the location change, we had less time for portraits so I was working fast to get everything I needed in a short amount of time. Jameson and Adrienne and the bridal party all did amazing and rocked our fast-paced photo time and we ended up with so many great options! I was so grateful!! Also, we lucked out with the rain falling RIGHT before photos and during the reception so only wet feet for portraits! YAYY!
I’ve said it before but I will say it again. A getting ready location with plenty of natural light makes ALL the difference in the final result of your photos! The girls rented an apartment suite in the newly renovated EL Wright School building and the lighting was perfect!
We arrived for the first look and there wasn’t any rain so we went for it outside. I am so happy we did, the colors were amazing!!
How great are these colors with the fall leaves?! We found an old car on the property that the bride and groom loved and it complimented the groom’s attire so well.
It might not have been raining when we started the ceremony but I’m sure everyone was relieved it was indoors. By this time the wind and cold had picked up and it was so cozy indoors!
Donuts and cupcakes, oh my!! I think I have a thing for donuts, I never crave them or think much about them until I see them at a wedding! You try editing photos of donuts and not craving them, goodness I have been dying for a donut since Saturday! 😂
